Why By Savitskaia Home

Simplicity without austerity — that is our brief. We design textiles and objects that feel essential: natural fibres, muted palettes, and details that support daily rituals. The goal is not to fill space but to make it better: quieter, more tactile, and more livable.

We are practitioners: designers who understand both the visual and technical demands of home goods. We test shrinkage, colorfastness, and hand feel — and choose only textiles that perform while retaining a soft lived-in look.

Important: The value of a textile is measured across time — how it washes, how it softens, how it becomes part of the household story.

Materials & Sourcing

Material choice is the backbone of what we do. We prioritize fibres that are renewable, durable and tactile:

  • Linen: breathable, strong, and beautiful — best for sheets, curtains, table linens that gain character with each wash.
  • Organic Cotton (long-staple): soft, resilient and easier to care for — ideal for everyday bedding and towels.
  • Wool blends: natural insulation for throws and cushions; we prefer fine merino blends for lightness.
  • Ceramics & Wood: tactile objects that complement textiles; responsibly sourced stoneware, unglazed finishes, and FSC certified woods.

We partner with certified mills and small workshops in Europe. Each partner must demonstrate responsible water use and fair labour practices. For transparency, we publish material origins on product pages.

Collections & Categories

Our home line is organized around purpose and palette — each collection contains coordinated pieces to build cohesive rooms.

Bedding

Sheet sets, duvet covers, pillowcases in linen and long-staple cotton. Neutral tones and hand-stitched hems.

Throws & Cushions

Lightweight woven throws and cushion covers in natural palettes — scaled to modern sofas and beds.

Table Linens

Dinner napkins, runners and tablecloths in linen with subtle hemming and natural dyes.

Objects & Ceramics

Hand-formed ceramics, trays and small objects that complete the table and shelf.

Tip: build a core palette (2 neutrals + 1 accent) and use texture to vary interest rather than pattern scale.

Care & Longevity — how to make textiles last

Care determines life. High-quality textiles can last decades when treated kindly. Follow these simple rules:

  1. Wash gently: use mild detergent, cool to warm water, and avoid aggressive spin cycles for linen.
  2. Dry softly: line dry when possible; tumble on low for cotton to soften, but avoid high heat.
  3. Store lightly: folded in breathable cotton bags; avoid plastic for long-term storage.
  4. Repair, don’t replace: small repairs preserve character — we offer repair guides for common issues.
Expert advice: fold linen when slightly damp for crisp, elegant creases; iron on the reverse side to protect finish.

Textile Estimator — How much fabric or how many sets do you need?

Quickly estimate how many linen sets, throws or table napkins you might need for a room. This tool gives an immediate suggestion; for exact ordering use product pages or contact support.

Use this as a planning tool — we will include exact yardage on product detail pages for custom orders.

Case Studies — Styling & Results

We work with designers, boutique hotels, and private clients to produce cohesive rooms. Below are short stories that show how textiles change perception of a space.

Short story — The Coastal Flat

A 60m² flat by the sea needed calm and durability. We provided linen bedding, washable slipcovers, and unglazed ceramics. Result: a cooler interior in summer and easier maintenance for sandy feet.

Short story — The City Studio

A compact studio with limited storage required multi-use objects: throws that double as seating pads, table linens that fold into runner options. Result: increased functionality with a cohesive palette.

Design note: scale, texture and color together form the visual hierarchy: choose one dominant texture and two supporting textures.

How to Choose Linen: Quick HowTo

This short guide helps you decide between linen and cotton, and which weave suits your life.

  1. Decide usage: for everyday bedding choose long-staple cotton; for elevated bedwear choose stonewashed linen.
  2. Check thread / weave: looser weaves soften faster; denser weaves wear longer.
  3. Feel weight: lightweight linen breathes in summer; mid-weight linen balances durability and drape.
  4. Look for origin: European or long-established mills usually indicate better quality controls.

Yes — we ship worldwide. Standard delivery is 5–10 business days to major markets. Expedited options are available in checkout. Duties depend on destination.

Yes — for some collections we accept custom orders. Contact our support team with required measurements and we will advise on minimum order quantities and lead times.
What is your sustainability approach?
We produce in limited runs, prefer natural fibres, and partner with suppliers that demonstrate responsible water and labour practices. We also publish material trace information on product pages.

Common Mistakes & Expert Tips

Common mistakes

  • Choosing heavy textures for small spaces (creates visual clutter).
  • Over-patterning across layers — keeps a space visually busy.
  • Ignoring shrinkage notes for linen — measure before ordering fitted items.

Expert tips

  • Use texture to create depth — mat finishes with low sheen complement natural light.
  • Start with neutrals and add one accent tone per room to maintain cohesion.
  • Buy a throw in a contrasting texture to change mood without redecorating.
Quick summary: choose materials for life, not only for the first week. Longevity and washability are primary selection criteria.
